I watched the amazing Chilean film, La nana (Sebastian Silva, 2009), a few years
ago, and I cannot take it from my head. There is something in the gorilla
mask's moment that is so powerful and surreal. It made me think of my
"decapitations" and my "surrealist gestures".
The film can
actually be found in Netflix and there is a very interesting interview in Bomb
Magazine Online

Dawn Ades, Rita
Eder and Graciela Esperanza have a very recent new text "Surrealism in
Latin America, Vivismo Muerto" (2012). Chile is present in Martin Ayala's
article titled The Photographic Legacy of Surrealism in Late-Twentieth-Century Chilean Poetrymore.
... also,
Nelly Richard has been a lot in my thoughts too.
